This course will provide an introduction to energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis for alloys.

This Seminar aims to promote the development and applications of computational methods in nuclear sciences and engineering. This is to share good practices with the nuclear industry in developing numerical methods and computer simulations. The Seminar includes invited speakers, special technology leaders and presentations from the nuclear industry, national institutions and academia.

This course will introduce BEX, a new analytical technique for scanning electron microscopes. The content will explore how the technique combines data from two imaging techniques to give topographic, crystallographic, atomic number and elemental information. 

This course will provide an introduction to advanced electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) technique in alloy imaging and characterisation. It will also provide an overview of the state-of-the-art facilities hosted by Royce at The University of Manchester, and other kit located with Royce partners. Routes to accessing Royce EBSD facilities will also be highlighted.

The Nuclear Graphite Research Group of The University of Manchester are hosting a short course in Nuclear Graphite for High Temperature Gas Reactors (HTGRs) and Advanced Molecular Reactors (AMRs)

This course will provide an overview of the use of Thermo-Calc for the modelling of alloy systems. The content will  provide an overview of Thermo-Calc’s key functions and how to conduct thermodynamic calculations.
