THE ARCHITECTURE OF SCIENCE – EXPERIENCING THE PRECISE
The National Graphene Institute (NGI) at the University of Manchester, considered one of the most advanced nanoscience labs ever built, is an example of a new generation of scientific buildings – a unique design that combines the analysis of distinctive design features with ethnographic observations of how scientists and other occupants use the building.
Join us for this very special session as Nobel Laureate Professor Sir Konstantin Novoselov shares his personal experience in the development of the building. He will join leading architect and researcher Professor Lam Khee Poh, who led the development of Singapore’s first new-build Net Zero energy building, to discuss the human experience of architectural spaces.
This web talk is primarily aimed at architecture students and coincides with the NGI’s fifth-year anniversary.
About the speakers
- Konstya Novoselov FRS, is a Langworthy Professor of Physics and Royal Society Research Professor at The University of Manchester and Tan Chin Tuan Centennial Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the National University of Singapore. Along with Andre Geim, Kostya was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010 for achievements with graphene.
- Professor Lam Khee Poh is the Provost’s Chair Professor of Architecture and Building and Dean of the School of Design and Environment at the National University of Singapore.
