Detailed Description

Fourier Transform Infrared is the motion of IR radiation being passed through a sample. Some of this radiation will be absorbed and some is transmitted, which results in a signal hitting the detector, creating a spectra known as the ‘molecular fingerprint’ of the sample. The spectra is then interpreted and used to provide structural information about the sample. FT-IR is used widely in industry, R&D and academia due to its speed and precision for structural information.
