Dr Andrew Barrow

Dr Andrew Barrow is a Technical Specialist in materials at Rolls-Royce with a focus on Ni-based alloys and hexagonal-close packed metals used in power systems. Andrew’s current role is focus around the development of materials and manufacturing processes for next generation pressurised water reactors. He is currently the company’s subject matter expert for X-ray and neutron beam science and represents Rolls-Royce on the Diamond Industry Science Committee (DISCo). He has held a range of technical and management roles within Rolls-Royce including Engineering Manager – Nuclear Materials where he was responsible for 26 professional engineers.
Before joining Rolls-Royce Andrew held Post-Doctoral Research Associate positions at the University of Cambridge, UK and Queen’s University, Canada in phase transformations and advanced characterisation techniques. Andrew has authored +10 scientific papers and holds a patent for next generation aero-engine shaft steels.
