Tom Hancocks
Training & Skills Manager
Tom has a degree in Human Genetics from the University of Leeds and a Masters in Analytical Genomics from the University of Birmingham. Since 2011 he has worked in CPD training in the biomedical and life sciences. This includes twenty months at the NOWGEN Centre, based between the University of Manchester and the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, followed by nine years at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory- European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI).
Whilst at EMBL-EBI Tom worked as a Scientific Training Officer in the EBI Training team. His role included a range of projects related to training and outreach in bioinformatics for the life sciences. These included leading training on the EU FP7 “BioMedBridges” project, the organisation and facilitation of EBI’s Industry Programme workshops, and the design, development and delivery of face-to-face and online bioinformatics courses for PhD and Post-doc students across the biosciences.
