Our Access Schemes

SME Equipment Access Scheme

The Royce SME Equipment Access Scheme is open to UK-based SMEs, spin-outs and start-ups and offers subsidised access to its extensive portfolio of equipment. The scheme is available to businesses underminimal financial assistance , part of uk subsidy control, and businesses must be eligible to receive this in order to apply.

THE SCHEME IS DESIGNED TO:

• Overcome cost barriers and de-risk experimental materials-based R&D

• Complete proof of concept studies to help pave the way for future collaborations with Royce

How to apply

Applicants should download and complete Part A of the application form, and submit by email to the relevant Royce Partner or Associate. This is designed to highlight the potential business value of the project and to identify equipment required or the need for a scoping discussion. Upon receipt of your application, technical experts from one of the Royce Partners will work with you to develop the experimental project and schedule access to the appropriate equipment.

Due to the nature of the scheme, Royce does not envisage generation of IP in most circumstances and as such, IP rights will continue to reside with the respective organisations which contribute them to any project.

Researcher & Student Equipment Access Schemes

Royce Researcher and Student Equipment Access Schemes offer funding for UK based doctoral and research masters students, and researchers at all stages of their career from PDRAs through to tenured academics. The access schemes are designed to open up Royce facilities to the UK academic materials community, build relationships and develop future collaboration opportunities.

Applications for funded access should be submitted directly to the facility where the required equipment is located. Applications should propose a single package of research work, allowing users to enhance their research by utilising state-of-the-art equipment.

How to apply

Applicants should download and complete Part A of the application form, and submit by email to the relevant Royce Partner or Associate. Email addresses are detailed below. Upon receipt of your application, technical experts from one of the Royce Partners will work with you to develop the experimental project and schedule access to the appropriate equipment.

Other Funding Routes

Alongside its access schemes, Royce often provides periodic calls for fully, or partially, funded projects to academic and industrial communities through a number of grants and awards programmes.

Funding plays a major role in driving materials innovation; it can assist in the acquisition and operation of activities and equipment necessary for advancements in materials science. Companies can also benefit from additional funding that could help to validate new products in the market and ultimately drive commercialisation efforts.
