About the Role

A mentor will have experience of building materials-based companies and spinouts, ideally in the hydrogen space, and will work closely with teams with early-stage technologies identified by the RHA to guide them towards investment.

The RHA will allocate each mentor a project(s) to support a specific team, for which advice and guidance will be provided through a series of meetings.

Time Commitment

Approximately 2 hours every two weeks, per project, as agreed ahead of each assignment with the RHA. Mentors will remain dormant in a pool until they are matched to a relevant active project. Mentors will give their support via meetings conducted remotely online.

The role will be offered on a consultancy basis and recompensed at £80 per hour (inclusive of any taxes or deductions). This arrangement will not form a contract of employment.

Who We’re Looking For

  • An experienced and trusted UK-based professional with thorough understanding of innovation and investment ecosystems.
  • Strategic thinker with significant experience in commercialisation and scaling technologies.
  • An understanding of the specific needs and challenges of commercialising materials technologies, ideally for the hydrogen economy (including scaleup, testing capability, networks, regulations, and safety).
  • Passionate about enabling the UK to lead in sustainable decarbonisation.

Successful applicants will be required to agree to terms of engagement, and potentially enter into a non-disclosure agreement with the mentee.
