Royce engages with the materials community at events and conferences

The first quarter of 2023 has seen Royce representation at a number of key events, adding further momentum and recognition to Royce’s role in the materials landscape, across a breadth of Research Areas. Here we look at some of those key events – which are in addition to the many others taking place in-situ around Partners.

Royce had a stand at the Engineering the Future  which gave delegates the opportunity to learn more about University of Manchester future research and educational activities that are delivering the next generation of engineers, as well as at the Innovative Healthcare Showcase also at The University of Manchester. Dr Ania Jolly Royce Head of Research and Business Engagement spoke at the Healthcare Showcase, where we showcased Royce’s support for technology translation and successful collaborations with industry. At the stand there were several enquiries from academics about access to Royce facilities as well as interesting discussions ranging from alternatives to animal models for testing drugs to 3D printing of organs/tissues to use to train medical students and surgeons.

A Royce team from the Hub showcased Royce at a stand at the major Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) conference which also took place at the end of March at the Manchester Convention Centre. The TERMIS EU conference is the leading event for the dissemination of the latest research in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, offering researchers, clinicians and industry an ideal opportunity to present and discuss their most recent findings, developments and challenges in the field.

At the beginning of April we exhibited at Corrosion at Manchester – the 2-day meeting reflected both the history of the subject and celebrated the opening of the new corrosion labs at Manchester. The event looked back to the history, and forwards to the future of the subject, exploring the importance of industry collaboration and partnership.

Of particular note was the Royce Sheffield stand at the major TMS 2023 Annual Meeting & Exhibition where the team showcased all of Royce’s research themes, and spotlighted on Advanced Metal Processing, Alloy Development and Nuclear Materials Research to a US audience.
