Mike Avery has an MSci in Chemical Physics with Industrial Experience, an industry-sponsored PhD in Functional Nanomaterials, and PDRA experience at both the University of Bristol and the University of Manchester. In the Digital Fabrication group he worked on projects with High Resolution Inkjet Printing of 2D Materials, Additive Manufacturing of Silicone-based MRI Phantoms, and short-term Impact Acceleration projects in the biomedical materials space, fostering partnerships with SMEs. Mike continues to work on application-driven, industry-linked, multidisciplinary research in materials science, making use of his background and experience in: bio-, nano- and 2D materials; colloid chemistry and formulation science; chemical and physical characterisation techniques; imaging; fibre fabrication (electro- and blow- spinning); Additive Manufacturing and Inkjet printing.
