Dr Joshua Parkin is an Application Scientist for the Centre of Expertise in Advanced Materials (CEAMS). After gaining his master’s in chemistry at the University of Manchester he went on to complete a PhD in Materials Science on Graphene integration for carbon fibre composites with a focus on aerospace applications. He has experience in manufacturing, mechanical testing, water absorption, thermo-analytical techniques, statistical modelling and conductivity testing. Beyond this, he also has industrial experience in ceramics, specifically for use in glass production. In particular, the reduction of sintering temperatures to reduce emissions and cost whilst maintaining adequate structural integrity and thermal properties. At Royce, he will be working on the CEAMS project to deliver co-operative projects between academia and industry.
