Dr. Jack Ball is an Application Scientist for the Sir Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials. He obtained his master’s in chemistry at The University of Hull with focus on perovskite nanoparticles. Following this, he spent time working on Pb quantum dots at Nanoco Technologies before transitioning to Materials Science and achieving his PhD at The University of Manchester. His research focused on the thermodynamics and kinetics of rare earth zirconate – silicate glass reactions for aero engine applications. Jack has experience in ceramics manufacture and high temperature testing, in addition to expertise in electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction and mechanical testing analytical techniques. At Royce, he will be working with the core team of application scientists to apply his knowledge of ceramic processing and analysis to the requirements of both academic and industrial projects.
