Ania joined the Henry Royce Institute in 2022 as the Head of Research and Business Engagement, she is responsible for developing and delivering Royce’s strategy for network coordination, research coordination, stakeholder management and business engagement activities in order to maximise the exploitation and impact of advanced materials science at Royce and across the UK.
Ania is a senior innovation leader with over 20 years’ experience supporting universities and research-intensive organisations to translate world-class research into commercial and societal impact. Ania has led and overseen multimillion-pound collaborative R&D and translational programmes at national and international level, with deep expertise in IP-driven commercialisation and non-dilutive funding. Ania is highly experienced in securing, governing, and delivering large-scale grant-funded programmes and in aligning scientific ambition with commercial and investor expectations. Her work focuses on accelerating pathways from lab to market, strengthening value propositions, and building credible evidence bases for customers, partners, and funders.
Ania is a recognised contributor to national and international panels, roundtables, and advisory forums focused on deep tech commercialisation, spin-out development, and innovation policy. She regularly chairs and contributes to discussions on translating research into real-world impact, optimising proof-of-concept funding, and strengthening the UK’s innovation ecosystem. She also serves as an expert evaluator for European research programmes, bringing a strong understanding of funder and reviewer perspectives.
Ania works at the interface of academia, industry, and investment, supporting founders, technology transfer teams, and boards to de-risk early-stage research, strengthen commercial propositions, and build investable spin-out companies. Her background spans advanced materials, health, and life sciences, underpinned by a PhD in Materials Chemistry.
