Royce Governing Board member awarded CBE in Queen's Birthday Honours

The recent announcement of the Queen’s Birthday Honours for 2018 included recognition of Royce Governing Board member Dick Elsy’s services to Manufacturing and Technology.

Mr Elsy, Chief Executive of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, which stimulates and supports the commercial application of new technologies through the development of innovative manufacturing processes, was appointed Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE).

The High Value Manufacturing Catapult focuses its research and development on key areas of high value manufacture, including use of metals and composites in addition to process manufacturing technologies and bio-processing. The Catapult brings together knowledge, expertise and state-of-the-art facilities to help UK businesses innovate to develop novel products and/or manufacturing processes.

As well as his invaluable contribution to the board of the Henry Royce Institute, Dick is also involved with a number of other organisations related to innovation in engineering and manufacturing, including the Aerospace Growth Partnership and the Automotive Council’s Technology group, and has recently been elected onto the UKRI-STFC Council.

Everyone at the Royce is delighted to offer their congratulations to Dick Elsy on this prestigious and well-deserved honour.
