The Henry Royce Institute is delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Chief Scientific Officer, Professor Ian Kinloch and two of our Research Area Leads Dr Reshma Rao and Professor Ifan Stephens, who have been recognised with prestigious prizes from the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
These honours reflect the quality and impact of their research, as well as the leadership they provide across the UK materials research community.
Professor Ian Kinloch has been recognised as part of an international team awarded the RSC Horizon Prize: Stephanie L Kwolek Prize for advances in solid-state battery technology. The team received the award for developing a scalable solid-state lithium metal battery architecture that integrates nanocarbon-enhanced cathodes with solid electrolytes, helping to overcome key barriers to the commercialisation of next-generation energy storage technologies including energy density, safety and manufacturability.
Dr Reshma Rao has been recognised with the Faraday early career prize: Marlow Prize for her pioneering work in the application of operando spectroscopy to heterogeneous interfaces and for advancing mechanistic understanding of polarised solid-liquid interfaces in electrocatalysis.
Professor Ifan Stephens has been awarded the RSC’s Corday-Morgan Mid-Career Prize in recognition of his outstanding contributions to chemistry, including transformative advances in non-aqueous electrochemistry, nitrogen reduction and the development of new techniques to probe electrochemical interfaces.
On behalf of the entire Royce Community we extend our congratulations to Ian, Reshma and Ifan on these achievements and look forward to seeing the continued impact of their research in addressing some of society’s most pressing challenges.
