Celebrating Pride Month at the Royce Hub Building

The Royce Hub Building at the University of Manchester is marking Pride Month in style this year with a bold display to shout about the Institute’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) commitments.

Pride Month is recognised around the world and is dedicated to the celebration and commemoration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer pride, which highlights the movement for LGBTQ+ rights and celebrates LGBTQ+ culture.

Dr Helen Ryder, Royce EDI Committee Chair, said:

“The letters are a fantastic visual demonstration of Royce’s commitment to inclusivity for all to see. It reaffirms Royce’s recognition of a need for diversity and visibility with regards to gender and sexuality within STEM.”

Through initiatives such its EDI committee, Royce aims to set positive examples for the next generation of materials scientists by challenging the preconceptions of what a materials scientist may be like.

Everyone within the Royce Community, across our Partners and our Stakeholders, should feel valued, respected and understand that they can thrive within their field. Through its EDI commitments, Royce hopes to capture a breadth of views and experiences that deliver creativity, innovation and new ways of seeing the world around us.
