The Economic and Environmental Importance of Mixed/Boundary Lubrication

In partnership with Micro Materials, Surface Ventures presents this event in which delegates will learn:

  • What is mixed/boundary lubrication & why is it important?
  • How much mixed/boundary friction is there is commonly used machine elements?
  • What are the costs, and CO2 emissions associated with mixed/boundary friction?
  • How can mixed/boundary friction be reduced?
Speaker

After a degree in Physics and a PhD in Applied Physics and Electronics, Prof. Robert Ian Taylor worked for Plessey Research from 1988-1991 and joined Shell in 1991. He was Global Technology Manager for the Lubrication Science team from 2006-2012, focused on energy efficient lubricants, and also managed Shell’s University research links in tribology. Ian has been a Visiting Professor at the UCLan since 2020 and is a Fellow of the IOP and of the STLE. He received the Tribology Silver Medal from the IMechE in 2020.
