Lubricated interfaces between flexible materials determine the performance of many industrial and biological systems.  Here, appreciable component deformation complicates already intricate contact mechanisms and often leads to poor understanding.  Recent experimental research at Imperial College has aimed to address this through the use of new, in situ measurement methods, applied to sliding interface under carefully controlled lubrication conditions.
In this free webinar, Dr Reddyhoff will:
  • Describe recently developed in situ measurement methods for probing compliant contacts, based on optical, acoustic, and electrical phenomena.
  • Report on research case studies in the following areas: Electric vehicle noise, aircraft seal performance, taste perception of low-sugar beverages and plant-based food.
