Overview

This is a two-day event offering an exclusive opportunity for Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) in the nuclear field to visit UKNNL’s Workington Laboratory and University of Manchester’s Dalton Cumbrian Facility (DCF). Through guided tours, presentations, equipment mock-ups and workshops, attendees will explore workflows and practices. The event has been designed with the nuclear RTP in mind and aims to deepen understanding, encourage knowledge sharing and networking, and provide valuable exposure to the wider nuclear industry at two very different facilities.

Background and motivation

This is an opportunity for nuclear research technicians to visit laboratories at the Dalton Cumbrian Facility and the UKNNL Laboratory. By opening these prestigious facilities to technicians, they will experience how DCF and UKNNL collaborate use their facilities and equipment to best practice. There will also be opportunities to learn from nuclear experts to transfer knowledge to RTPs within the nuclear sector.

Audience

This event is open to RTPs, and travel can be subsidised for those coming from out of Workington by NTPMI. For those requiring accommodation, please identify this within the sign-up form and we will arrange tooms within the Washington Central Hotel. Washington Central Hotel to UKNNL is a 20 min walk. Travel to DCF from the hotel will be via minibus. If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know within the form.
