Dr Marco Domingos is the Technology Platform Lead for Bioprinting at the Henry Royce Institute at the University of Manchester.

Marco Domingos is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering at the University of Manchester (UoM, UK). He graduated in mechanical engineering (2006) from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria in Portugal and holds a PhD cum laude in mechanical engineering from the University of Girona (Spain). Before joining the University of Manchester in 2014, he worked for two years as an assistant researcher in additive manufacturing at the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development in Portugal and for a year at Dias de Sousa, SA in the field of medical imaging. He established his research group at the UoM in 2014 focusing on the integration of advanced biomaterials, stem cells and biofabrication technologies to generate clinically relevant 3D tissue/organ models for the in vitro study of complex regeneration and disease mechanisms that occur in the human body.

In 2021 he was invited to lead the Bioprinting Technology Platform at Royce with the aim of supporting the commercial/clinical exploitation of innovative bioprinted products. He holds several visiting professorial positions at prestigious institutions including the Institute of Composite and Biomedical Materials, University of Naples (Italy), the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP), Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (Portugal) and the Centre of Reverse Engineering and Additive Manufacturing Innovation (CREAMI) – Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Naples “Federico II” (Italy).
