Dr Alex Walton

Alex Walton is a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at the University of Manchester. His research focuses on using operando spectroscopic techniques to study electrochemical systems, with a particular emphasis on electrocatalysts and battery materials.

Alex did his PhD at the University of Leeds and subsequently took up a postdoctoral position at Aarhus University in Denmark. He was appointed to an independent academic position at the University of Manchester (Research Fellow) in 2015, and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2021.

He has received funding from the EPSRC, bp and the Faraday Institution to research new methodologies for operando electrocatalyst characterisation.
