Dr Hans Van-der-Weijde is Director Programmes at Tata Steel R&D in the Netherlands
Hans is a materials scientist and engineer who initially specialised in surface related technologies. After a short academic career at Delft University he transferred to Tata Steel (and its predecessors) in ’98 and has broadened his filed of expertise since.
His main specialisation is in applied electrochemistry, metallic and organic coatings, corrosion and in metal packaging but as programme director the project portfolio’s covers a much wider area of the steel industry as well as applications of steel with a special focus on the changes that are needed to renew the steel industry towards a green future
Hans is a member various councils and committees amongst which are the Advisory Council at the Materials Innovation Institute (M2i), CRM (Belgium) the High Tech Systems and Materials roadmap council at Holland High Tech, ESTEP, and the Kuratorium of Fosta (Germany)
