NXCT – Workshop: Advanced acquisition and analysis of image-based data

Chaired by Dr Tim Burnett (NXCT) and Dr Adam Sobey (The Alan Turing Institute), in this workshop we will share information and challenges relating to the acquisition, reconstruction, visualisation and analysis of large 2D+time, 3D, 3D+time and 4D+ image datasets.

The speakers will present some of the capabilities of X-ray imaging as well as the data and analytical challenges we are facing to further exploit this technology. We will hear about how X-ray imaging has helped provide data to validate mathematical models and how advanced image analysis approaches can be used to extract information from multi-dimensional datasets.

A discussion element of the workshop will focus on identifying major challenges and possible approaches to address these. We hope that we can identify some joint initiatives from the NXCT side that can be supported by access provided to our scanners and computing and software resources.

The event is supported by The Alan Turing Institute, National Research Facility for lab X-ray Computed Tomography (NXCT), The Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials and the CCPi Tomographic Imaging Network (University of Manchester)
