About the MATcelerate HEALTH Grant Funding

MATcelerate HEALTH is a Royce facilitated initiative designed to accelerate the commercialisation of advanced materials technologies within the healthcare sector.

It functions as an industry-driven accelerator, connecting leading research universities with global companies to help bridge the gap between academic innovation and market-ready solutions.

Based on the same model as the Royce facilitated MATcelerate ZERO accelerator, MATcelerate HEALTH is a partnership between world leading materials research universities and leading, global MedTech companies and investors, to develop a pipeline of commercial opportunities to revolutionise healthcare.

MATcelerate HEALTH is committed to improving patient outcomes through advanced materials, smart medical devices, while addressing the environmental impact of medical waste, reducing healthcare costs and maximising delivery efficiency.

By leveraging Royce’s cutting-edge capabilities, along with industry and investor networks, MATcelerate HEALTH aims to transform materials technologies emerging from universities and hospital settings into viable, investable solutions. This will be achieved through close collaboration with leading UK universities and several of the country’s largest NHS Trusts.

Since its launch in 2025, MATcelerate HEALTH has awarded more than £0.5 million in funding to 6 projects

MATcelerate HEALTH Funding Round 3

Applications to Round 3 of MATcelerate HEALTH grant funding are open between 01 September and 17 November 2026.   This programme funds projects that have total project costs of between £50,000 and £85,000.
