Growth UK Online Seminar 13: Gas-phase Synthesis of Alloy and Core-Shell Nanoparticles

Growth UK is an NTPMI supported initiative which seeks to bring together Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) in the UK Thin Film Growth and Deposition community through a programme of online talks; in-person symposia and best practice sharing.

Dr. Lars Allers is Managing Director of Theris Nanotechnology, he studied Natural Sciences (Physics) in Cambridge University followed by a PhD in solids state physics at King’s College London. After a short post-doc position at King’s he joined Oxford Applied Research – a manufacturer of instrumentation and systems for thin-film deposition. He left in 2003 to start Mantis Deposition, where in the 12 years he was managing director, they designed and sold UHV systems for the growth of thin films using a variety of growth techniques including PVD, PLD, Nanoparticle and E-beam deposition. He left Mantis in 2015 to form Korvus Technology, where they designed and sold PVD systems with a unique modular architecture which was new to the industry. In 2020 they sold Korvus to the Judge’s group and in 2022 formed Theris Nanotechnology, where he is focused on further developing the nanoparticle synthesis technology first developed in Mantis.

Dr Allers will be delivering a talk on Gas-phase synthesis of alloy and core-shell nanoparticles.
