Recognising Technical Talent: 2026 Royce-IOM3 Awards Open for Nominations

The Henry Royce Institute (Royce) is proud to support two prestigious awards delivered in partnership with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) that celebrate the UK Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) community.

The Henry Royce Institute Award for Innovation by a Technical Professional recognises the crucial contribution that technical professionals make in advancing our technology and understanding of the materials world. The judges will be looking for an outstanding individual who has made a key contribution to a research project that has led to significant innovation in any aspect of materials science and engineering.

The Henry Royce Institute Award for Outstanding Contribution by a Technical Professional recognises the contribution of an exceptional and established technical professional over an extended period of time (minimum of ten years), across a number of projects or activities. The recipient should be an individual that has gone beyond the normal expectation of their role, shared best practice across their own and other organisations, and supported the development and training of new staff.

Awards Guidance

Nominees for both categories should be a non-academic, working within a UK-based materials research organisation, community or company, including national laboratories and universities.

Nominations must be submitted by the nominee’s colleague or line manager.

Each of the winners will receive £500.

Nominations close on 28th February 2026.

Both awards are administered by IOM3 on behalf of the Henry Royce Institute.
