The Henry Royce Institute is the UK’s national institute for advanced materials research and innovation. Providing world-class equipment, infrastructure, training and outreach, Royce works with the UK materials community to develop solutions to national and global challenges. The Materials Systems for Demanding Environments (MS4DE) Research Area explores the interaction between the environment and structural component &/or coating integrity. Investigating degradation mechanisms, materials performance and technology, and cryogenic conditions. The objective being to design and test innovative material solutions that deliver advanced performance and reduce environmental degradation in demanding environments. This innovation is underpinned by mechanistic understanding to support the transition to a net-zero and green economy.
About
The workshop will explore industry’s current and future materials requirements and investigate how Royce and the wider research community can best support industry’s needs. The objective of this workshop is to define one or more strategic goals that will inform MS4DE’s research programme, paving the way for targeted collaboration, impactful research, and implementation of the National Materials Innovation Strategy.
