HETS 2021 is being held at the East Midlands Conference Centre at the University of Nottingham and is sponsored by Midlands Innovation in partnership with the Science Council. The 2021 summit will be the largest event held specifically for UK and Ireland higher education and research technical staff.

The Student Research Sandpit Workshop offers doctoral students the chance to experience the “Research Sandpit” format often used by research councils and other funders to stimulate and support new lines of thinking for tackling complex research challenges. This year's lecture is titled, Moving Phase Boundaries as a Means to Transport Solute Atoms in Steels, from Professor Sybrand van der Zwaag, Delft University of Technology.
