Dr Ben Slater is the Business Development Manager covering the Chemical Materials Design theme from our partner institution, the University of Liverpool (UoL).
Ben earnt his PhD in supramolecular chemistry at the University of Nottingham. He continued his career in research through several Post-Doctoral Research Associate positions working with porous materials, contrast agents, brewing science and chemistry automation.
Since then, Ben has shifted his focus to managing the outcomes of materials innovation in industry, this included managing UoL’s EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account from 2017, supporting 42 projects with a total £1.2M industry match.
Through this, he developed a wide industry network before moving to the UoL’s Materials Innovation Factory (MIF) in 2019.
Today, he manages interactions between with the MIF Open Access Lab and Royce clients, including corporates, SMEs and start-ups.
He has specific interests in entrepreneurship and commercialisation of digital, automation, and advanced materials.
